Athena Jreij

Athena Jreij is an Emmy Award-winning anchor and reporter for FOX5 Vegas, with a passion for viewer advocacy, community storytelling and highlighting those who feel underrepresented in the media.

Athena was born and raised in Los Angeles, where she grew up watching the local news every morning before school. She earned her bachelor's from San Diego State University in Journalism and Media Studies, and later worked as an assignment desk editor at the local ABC affiliate, KGTV.

Athena joins Las Vegas from News Channel 3 in Palm Springs, where she was awarded an Emmy for her live reporting during the American Reproductive Centers’ clinic bombing. During her time in the Coachella Valley, she went in-depth on issues facing the community like public safety, high-kill animal shelters and data center development, which yielded results like Valley-wide data center bans and moratoriums.

When she’s not reporting, Athena can be found hanging out with her furry friends, exploring local plant and coffee shops, or attending live music festivals.
